MFL
Intent:
At Pyrcroft Grange School we aim to introduce French as a modern foreign language to our children in order to provide them with a valuable skillset that will enable them to communicate effectively in French-speaking countries.
We aim to foster an interest in French language and culture among our pupils and to develop their cultural awareness, language proficiency, and intercultural competence.
In addition, children’s knowledge of how language works will be developed to lay the foundations for further language learning in future.
Implementation:
We aim to provide our children with
· high-quality French language instruction using the Rigolo scheme of learning, delivered by class teachers who have undergone further CPD to enhance their teaching.
· a variety of teaching strategies, including games, songs, and interactive activities, to make learning fun and engaging.
· regular opportunities for pupils to practise vocabulary, either with the teacher or a peer.
Impact:
By introducing French as a modern foreign language to our children we aim to,
· develop key skills such as communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
· gain a better understanding of the French culture and way of life.
· broaden children’s horizons and increase their intercultural awareness.
· use language skills to communicate effectively with French-speaking people and to explore the world with confidence.
· embed MFL across the KS2 curriculum.
· increase cultural capital for all children.
· form a sound basis for further language learning at Key Stage 3 and beyond for all children
